Roxie and the hooligans

The author of this book is Phyllis Reynolds Naylor.The main characters are Roxie, who is brave and smart and the four hooligans.They are Helvetia, the leader, Freddy Filch,Smoky Jo and Simon Surley. They are the big bullies who pick on Roxie all the time. This story takes place at school in a town called Chin-in-Hand and on a deserted island.
One day, the hooligans were chasing Roxie. Roxie hid in a dumpster and the hooligans came in after her. They all ended up on a trash barge because they couldn't get out. The barge went to an island where the trash was dumped including all of them. Roxie ran and went up a tree. She slept there all night because the hooligans were too tired to climb and get her. The next day, Roxie came down because they all were thirsty and told her they wouldn't hurt her. That's when they heard somebody coming. They all hid and listened. When the men left the one man said nobody is here and the other man said but
I heard something. Roxie and the hooligans knew they had to get off the island. The men turned out to be bank robbers who were hiding out.
After being on the island several days and hiding out from the robbers, Roxie's grandfather figured out where they were. He called the cops and they went to rescue them. When the helicopters showed up,the robbers saw the kids and tried to get them. The kids got away and were rescued and the robbers were caught. I really like this book because it was interesting and kept me wanting to read.
